CARDABILITIES #68: "Special Memory"

It's that time again: time for Cardabilities' new card challenge (#68).

This is the card I made...
Supplies:  cardstock, Maja Design "Fika", Spellbinder's Nestabilities "Circles" and "Scalloped Circles", Tim Holtz Alterations "Mini Love Struck Set", KaiserCraft "Friendship Sentiments", lace, pearl, clear embossing powder.

...and here's the sketch...

An extra challenge for me this time around was the color I used. Although I really love purple, I think it's hard to work with.

Hope you like what I did with the sketch and that you'll join us over at Cardabilities!

Have a great day!

My introduction at Inspired Blueprints

As I told a couple of weeks ago, I'm one of the lucky one's who got in Inspired Blueprints' design team. Here's my formal introduction.

Today I have the pleasure of introducing another of our lovely design team members...

Jolanda C. van Pareren

Located | the Netherlands

Blog | Scrapdictive
Preferred scrapbooking medium | 12x12

What inspired you to begin your creative journey?
The first time I ever saw a scrapbook page my husband and I were in Florida on vacation. I loved it, but at that time, as far as I knew, it wasn't known in the Netherlands. It wasn't until a couple of years later I stumbled over a Dutch scrapbooking magazine. I bought it, but at that time I was hooked on another hobby (making jewellery) so I didn't do anything with it. It wasn't until we bought a puppy, that I really wanted to do something with it. To be sure that I knew what I was doing, I took a beginners workshop. I was hooked right away. It took a while to find out which style I really liked, but then... Well, just take a look at the things I'll be posting for Inspired Blueprints, or take a peak on my blog.

If you were to describe your scrapbooking style in five words, what would they be?
Vintage chic / romantic / sometimes side step to mixed media.

What type of camera do you use?
a reflex camera (Nikon D3200).

Where do you do most of your scrapbooking?
Since my husband made me a scrapbooking room, I'm using it for about 99% of the times. The other percent is on the couch in the living room.

What time of day are you most creative, and what inspires you to create?
Since I mostly wake up in the wee hours of the morning (I wish sometimes I could sleep late), I'm most productive in the early mornings, but... when I got this idea in my head that just has to come out, I can easily go on scrapbooking until somewhere around 03.00 a.m. (only in weekends).

Why do you love sketches?
I guess because it's kind of challenging. Especially when you're 'forced' to make something different then you would make by your self.

Jolanda has described her scrapping style to a tee! Check out her vintage chic and romantic spin on Inspired Blueprints sketch 74

Some stamped tags

I thogught it was time for me to take out some stamps. After some playing around with them, this is what I've got.
Supplies: Inkssentials manila tag #8, Stamp-It Australia "Time in Paris" & "A Map", Stampers Anonymous "Mixed Media CMS125" and "Carte Postale", Pink Paislee stamp "Parisian Anthology", Unity "Beloved Collection - Be Still", Ranger Distress Ink, clear embossing powder, Tim Holtz Alterations Mover and Shapers "Mini butterfly set".

For this tag I inked up to whole background with Ranger's Tumbled Glass. Next I stamped my background with "Carte Postale" and used the same color. Because I wanted to emboss my stamps on top I had to use the heat gun to dry the ink.
After stamping both the "Time in Paris" and "Parisian Anthology" stamp with black distress ink, I dipped the tag in clear embossing powder, used my heatgun again, distressed the edges with some vintage photo and started decoration the tag with some pieces of paper and a butterfly diecut on which I also used some clear embossing powder.

For this tag to corners on one side with "Crushed Olive". I used the same color on the opposite side right in the middle. The 'left over space' (which also should be to corners on one side and right in the middle of the other side) I inked with "Mustard Seed".
After drying the ink with a heatgun, I sprayed some water on the tag used my heat tool to dry the wate. That way you'll get those splattery light colored stains on the tag.
Next I stamped "A Map" with black distress ink and embossed it.
The birds were inked up with the same ink colors as I used for my background.
For the chicken wire stamp I used some "Vintage Phote", the same color I used to ink the edges of the tag.

For some great stamps you should take a look at Sin City Scraps! I just love what I saw there!

I have to get going now.
Have a great Friday!

CARDABILITIES #67: Get well soon

It's the 15th of the month and so it's time for a new challenge (67th) at Cardabilities.
Two challenges for me this time around. The first one was the skecht itself, it has a round shape in it. A kind a shape that isn't my strongest point. The second challenge is the color I picked: blue... but hey... at times you've got to challenge yourself too, isn't it.?!
This is the card I made...
Supplies: cardstock, Pion Design "Studio of Memories", doiley, lace, Spellbinders Nestabilities "scalloped circle" (and on the inside a "get wel soon" stamp by Martha Stewart).
And this is the skecht we had to work from this time
If you're up for a challenge just come on over and join us at Cardabilities and show us what you created using our sketch.

Have a great day!

Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of 2013: January

Last year I gave it a try to join Tim Holtz on his "12 Tags of 2012" journey, but somehow there was always something to get in my way and so I only did 7 out of 12 tags (still have to show most of them). Well, it's a new year and I promised myself that I would make all of Tim's "12 Tags of 2013" this time around.

That being said, here's my version of the January tag.

Supplies: Inkssentials #8 size manila tag, Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades "Postcard & Sheet Music Set", Alterations Die "Gadget Gears", Distress Ink, Distress Stain, Stampers Anonymous "Birds and Baubles CMS039", Idea-ology "Mini Gears", "Sprocket Gears", "Mini Fasteners", "Game Spinners", "Charm Clips", "Film Strip Ribbon" and "Pen Nips", coin, ribbon, Unity stamp "Vintage Postcard".

Since I don't have that many texture fades I used another one then Tim used in his tag. With a bit of imagination I thought the  "Gadget Gears" die could still be used for the tag.

It was fun to make this tag, but I always I would still like to think what you think of it.

Have a great Sunday!
